1. Who we are

Eco Renovate (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates ecorenovate.co.uk, a website that helps homeowners in the UK get matched with a retrofit contractor for self-funded whole-house retrofit projects.

Data controller: Eco Renovate Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 17379208)
Contact: hello@ecorenovate.co.uk
Address: 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us using the details above.

2. What information we collect

When you use our property check and quote form, we collect:

  • Postcode and house number/name - used to look up your property’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating
  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Property type and the upgrades you’re interested in (e.g. insulation, heat pumps, solar, glazing)
  • EPC rating returned by the government lookup for your property

We also automatically collect some technical information when you visit the site, through analytics and tracking tools:

  • Usage and analytics data (pages visited, time on site, referring site, approximate location, device/browser type) via Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager
  • Cookies - see Section 5 below

We do not collect financial information, payment details, or any special category data (such as health data) through this site.

3. How we use your information, and our legal basis

Send you marketing about our service (only if you opt in) To let you know about related services Consent (PECR)

Keep records, prevent fraud, comply with law Legal obligations Legal obligation / legitimate interests

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

4. Who we share your information with

Unlike some comparison sites, we do not sell or broadcast your enquiry to multiple contractors for bidding. We match you with one vetted contractor covering your area and pass your enquiry to them in real time so they can contact you about a quote.

For solar panel and battery enquiries in central Scotland, the vetted contractor we currently pass your details to is Quinn Energy Ltd (quinnenergy.uk). We will always tell you which contractor your details are going to before you submit the form. If our partner installer for your area changes, we will update this policy.

  • We name or clearly describe the contractor your details will go to at the point you submit the form, before you submit it.
  • We only share what’s needed for them to quote: your name, contact details, postcode, property type, upgrades of interest, and EPC rating.
  • The contractor becomes a separate data controller once they receive your information - their own privacy policy governs how they handle it from that point.
  • We do not sell your data to data brokers or unrelated third parties, and don’t share it for unrelated purposes unless required by law.

Other recipients: service providers who process data on our behalf (our website host, WPForms, Google Analytics/Tag Manager, email delivery) - only for the purposes we specify, never for their own use. We may also disclose information where required by law.

5. Cookies and tracking

We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use the site. Some cookies aren’t strictly necessary for the site to function, so we ask for your consent via a cookie banner before setting them. You can withdraw consent at any time via your cookie preferences.

6. How long we keep your information

  • Enquiry/quote data: kept for 12 months from your last contact with us, or until you ask us to delete it.
  • Marketing consent records: kept until you withdraw consent, plus a short period afterwards.
  • Analytics data: retained per Google Analytics’ standard retention settings.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your data

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure form submission, website security monitoring, and regular backups. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.

9. Children

Our service is intended for homeowners aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

10. International transfers

Some of our tools, such as Google Analytics, may process data on servers outside the UK. Google is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which provides an approved safeguard for these transfers.
